JOHN LAMONT Obituary

LAMONT, John Robert "John" "Bob" John or Bob, 84, died peacefully after a brief illness, on Friday, September 27, 2024. Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada, on October 4, 1939, John was the son of the late Mary Ellen (Kelly) Lamont and John Allen Lamont; loving brother of the late Francis Anthony Lamont (Karen Trenholm) of Tallahassee, Florida; devoted husband of Joan Lamont and the late Carol Ann Lamont; beloved father of Craig Lamont (Rachel) of Framingham and Keith Lamont (Perry) of Vacaville, CA; loving grandfather of Corey, Kayla and Sam Lamont and Cole and Lily DeCoste. He was also the loving uncle of Karen Farrington of Tallahassee, Florida; and stepfather of Fred DeCoste of Dedham and Ryan DeCoste (Meaghan) of Raynham. John emigrated from Canada to East Cambridge when he was seven years old. He graduated from BC High in 1957 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1964, stationed in the Philippines and Okinawa. John graduated from Boston College in 1966 and earned his JD from Suffolk University Law School in 1969, later serving as Director of Suffolk University Law School Alumni Association. He practiced law for over 50 years in the Boston area. John and his late wife, Carol, raised their children in Newton, where they lived for over 30 years. In 2002, he moved to Duxbury with his wife, Joan and there, he was a member of the Rotary Club. He also served as Director of the Kiwanis Club of Kingston-Duxbury and was a Board Member of Bay Farm Association Community. John loved spending time with his family and was a very kind and generous man to all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on his 85th birthday, Friday, October 4, at 10:30 am, at St. Peter's Church, in Plymouth, 86 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360. Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 5, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, at Arthur J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown Street, NEWTON, MA 02458. A private Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, in West Roxbury. Flowers may be sent to St. Peter's Church in Plymouth. Donations may be made in John's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Children's Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
