JOHN MCINNIS Obituary

McINNIS, John "Jack" On Monday, May 2, John "Jack" McInnis, loving husband and father, passed away quietly in his home surrounded by his wife and two daughters. He was 68. Jack was born in Boston, MA on November 27, 1953, to the late Dolores Thompson McInnis and John Roland McInnis. Always the consummate gentleman and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, he put family first and was continually willing to share his much sought-after, wise counsel. If you needed Jack, he was there. He could fix just about anything, from the jalopy cars he brought back to life in his youth to the rewiring of electrical panels in his daughter's new home. Nothing was beyond his ability to tackle and see to completion. His grandsons Chase and Wes loved their rides on the lawn mower with "Granda" and were even taught to steer it along, while sitting on his lap. Jack's early college career was cut short after his father's passing. In 1999, he fulfilled his desire to complete his education attending evening classes at Quincy college. He earned his degree in Environmental Science, graduating with honors. If you knew Jack, you were likely the recipient of one of his long, detailed stories. If you were one of those people, you are smiling right now. Left to cherish his sweet memories are his beloved wife Jill; daughters Kirby McInnis and Brittany Allen; along with his son-in-law Phil Allen; and grandsons Chase and Weston Allen of Marshfield. He is also survived by his adoring sisters and brothers, Maureen Muscato of Carver, Brian and Jolie McInnis of Sarasota, FL, Robert McInnis of Norwell, Cathy McInnis of Norwell, Glenn and Margaret McInnis of Norwell, Michelle and Rick Smith of Plymouth, Greg and Heather McInnis of Carver, Danielle McInnis of Braintree, James and Nancy Papa of Rochester, NY, David and Judy Nadeau of Pittsfield and Jon and Paula Papa also of Pittsfield; along with his sixteen nieces and nephews. He was slated to retire on June 30 after 40 years of service to the Town of Norwell. He took great pride in serving many years as Norwell's Water Superintendent. Jack was tireless in his dedication, initiating and overseeing many construction projects and improvements to the town's drinking water system. Jack had a deep respect for all veterans who courageously fought for our freedoms. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Jack's name. www.t2t.org/donate Visiting Hours: A Memorial Mass at 10:00 am on June 17th will be held at St. Helen's Church, 383 Washington Street in Norwell, MA, where Jack served as an altar boy and choir member in his youth. A Celebration of Life will follow at Cushing Memorial Hall, 673 Main Street in Norwell, MA. Please bring your favorite story to share.

So very sorry to hear of Jack´s passing. We spent many years working together in the water works industry and he was always a true professional and a pleasure to work with. We also had a Carver connection, as our daughters were in school together.
Condolences to all of Jack´s family.
