This time of year brings memories of friends past, and first to mind for me this year is Marianne, my college roommate and friend from many years ago. Rick, you were so kind to share information and to send that heartfelt 50th anniversary card that Marianne had set aside for us. I felt particularly sad that we never connected in person during those years--even though I knew it would feel like yesterday if I saw Marianne. It has taught me not to miss those opportunities so I am going to visit our other roommate (also Linda) when in Florida this February. Thanks for the lesson, Marianne. Your ears will be burning when Linda and I meet!

Marianne and I shared the same birthday, so this past August 18th, I thought deeply about the wonderful events and get togethers we enjoyed and how important her friendship was to me. Those memories are sweet. We will always be particularly connected on that day and I will always treasure our friendship. With love, Paula

Marianne was my college roommate for a couple years.
She was kind, patient, loyal, and loving. She made the effort to be a bridesmaid at my wedding and subsequently sent me and Tim an anniversary card every single year--without exception. That just goes to show how Marianne did special things for people all the time. I have saved those cards because they meant so much to me. I will miss her kind words this year when we celebrate our 50th, but I know she will be with us. Marianne was indeed a special and beloved person.

Dear Rick,
We are just heartbroken that Marianne lost her brave battle. What a privilege it was to fight the fight each day this summer with her by my side, holding my hand when we both had had enough. I will never forget her kindness, your friendship and the blessing it was to cross paths at our most vulnerable hour.
You were her advocate and devoted companion. May your love for sweet Marianne bring you peace.
Much love,
Debra & Craig LaFiandra

Dear Rick, Andrew, Kate and all of Marianne´s family and friends
I am so sorry for your loss. Marianne was a beautiful soul whose warmth filled every room she entered. Her open friendship, gregarious nature and easy wit were intrinsic to her being. I was fortunate to work with Marianne at the Norwood Public School and was blessed to become her friend. I will forever treasure memories of her.

I am so sorry to lose such a beautiful friend far too soon. I can still feel her hug when we both lost our dear friend Don a few months ago; she was the world's best hugger. A wonderful person gone far too soon.
