MARLENE BUSH Obituary

BUSH, Marlene Marie (Maher) 77 passed away peacefully at Westford House, (Westford, MA) on May 23, 2013 following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. A 35 year resident of Littleton, Marlene is survived by son Charles (Chuck) and his wife Paula of Littleton , daughter Kathleen (Kathy) Bush-Dutton and her husband Charles (Chuck) of Littleton, and four grandchildren: Bethany, Rebecca & Cameron Bush, and Adam Dutton all of Littleton. She is also survived by her brother Roy Maher of Plymouth, MA and her sister Elaine Maher of Peabody and was pre-deceased by brothers Michael Maher and Donald Maher. She was the wife of the late Philip "Charlie" Bush and the daughter of the late Michael & Elsie Maher. Marlene Marie Maher was born on March 22, 1936 and grew up in East Boston, MA. She married Philip Bush in 1956 and the two moved to Littleton in 1962 to raise a family on Lake Matawanakee. They spent 35 years at the Lake where she treasured being a stay at home mom and enjoyed summers entertaining family and friends. Once her kids were older, she took a job at Sentry Insurance in Concord, MA where she worked for many years. Since 1997, Marlene was a resident of Ayer, MA. She was a dedicated attendee and cheerleader at her grandchildren's various sporting and school events from kindergarten concerts and baseball games to dance recitals and college field hockey games. Marlene was a gifted cook and happily accepted special requests for her grandkid's favorite dishes. She enjoyed traveling with family and was an avid reader; at times reading a book a day. Her family would like to thank all her friends and relatives who visited with her during her stay at Westford House. The family would especially like to thank the amazing staff and residents of Westford House who became her second family and took such wonderful care of her. Thanks also to her team of doctors and nurses at Mass General Hematology & Oncology who managed to make her cancer treatment bearable. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 2-5 pm at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA. Please see www.badgerfuneral.com for more information.
