MARY JANE BRENNAN

1928 - 2018

BRENNAN, Mary Jane The Passing of a Wonderful Lady Mary J. Brennan (Yienger) of Hingham, formerly of Scituate, passed on to heaven with her family around her on December 5th 2018. Born in 1928 in Baltimore MD, Mary lived a full and wonderful life. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Lawrence E Brennan with whom she had many adventures including raising their six children. Mary was ahead of her time in many ways. She attended Western High School in Baltimore MD and was an accomplished upright bass player. Mary won a Carnegie Grant, which allowed her to eventually play with the Baltimore City orchestra as a young woman. She went onto the University of Maryland, playing in the University orchestra and this is also where she met her future husband, Lawrence E. Brennan of Melrose MA. Mary and Lawrence married in 1950 and lived in Arvada CO for several years, Arlington MA briefly, but spent the majority of their time together in the lovely town of Scituate, MA. This is where they finally put down roots for over 40 years. Mary spent the first part of her marriage raising her six children which was no small task and then went onto work in various fields including E.C. Schirmer & Galaxy Music, and Lincoln Trust. Both Mary and her husband Lawrence were very physically active and fit and Mary was one of the first aerobics instructors when aerobics became popular in the 1980s. She taught for many years at Gloria Stevens in Hanover. She also enjoyed gardening with her husband and together they would grow amazing vegetables and flowers and share with the neighborhood and family. A kind and gracious woman, Mary was literally liked by everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Mary lived a long life and was not only pre-deceased by her husband, but by many of her friends and family. She was the daughter of Walter F Yienger and Rose B Yienger (Hein) of Baltimore. She was also pre-deceased by her brother Daniel Yienger. Among those still with us she leaves her brother Walter F Yienger Jr. and his wife Dolly of Catonsville MD; her six children: Mary Patricia (Hobbs/Finnie) of Searsport ME, Steven and his wife Jane of Norton MA, Sherry Laws and her husband Richard of Hull, Terrence and his wife Vivian of Federal Way WA, Matthew and his wife Linda of Burke VA and Lois Brennan-Andrey of Hingham MA. Mary also leaves behind 10 grandchildren who brought much joy to her life: Daniel Brennan of Burrillville RI, Shannon Hobbs of Melrose MA, Nathan Hobbs of Winterport ME, Taylor Hobbs of NYC, Parker Hobbs of Roseland VA, Aaron Brennan of Alexandria VA, David Brennan of Baltimore MD, Jenna Pringle-Huerta of Federal Way WA, Chris Pringle of North Massapequa NY and Lily Andrey of Hingham MA. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary's of the Nativity in Scituate at 10:00 on Friday, December 14th. A gathering celebrating her life will follow.
