Pamela Adams Obituary

ADAMS, Pamela Lynn (Webner) Of Boston, MA passed peacefully on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the age of 56 in her home, surrounded by her family. Pam is survived by her husband, Michael F. Adams, her son, Nathan Maugel (30) of Acton, MA (wife Jennifer Maugel and grandchildren Brayden and Madison), her daughter, Sarah Maugel (27) of Somerville, MA (fiancée Michael Lane), and her stepsons Mitch (34) and Jerry Adams (32) both of Norway, Maine. Pam was born May 8, 1954 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the first child of Rodney Webner and Nancy (Bescher) Webner. She was raised in Orrville, Ohio and is survived by her parents, four siblings, Denise Lewis, Cynthia Webner, David Webner, and Anne Sutton, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Pam has since lived in Melrose, Westford, and Boston, Massachusetts and Norway, Maine. Pam was a graduate of Bowling Green State University (B.S. Applied Microbiology, 1976) and of Harvard University School of Public Health (S.M. Microbiology, 1979). She worked most recently as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ETEX Corporation in Cambridge, MA, beginning in 1999. She has been active in the Medical Device and Life Services Industries for more than 20 years, serving as the Industry Representative to the FDA Orthopedic Advisory Panel and working previously at CR Bard and E.I. DuPont de Nemours. Throughout Pam's courageous fight against brain cancer, she received excellent care at Massachusetts General Hospital and through the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine, a non-profit organization dedicated to combating the negative effect of stress on one's physical health. Pam believed strongly in the power of positive thought and embraced her illness with this attitude: "I will go on, not with anger and bitterness, but with determination and joy." - Ken Wilber. A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church at 48 Main Street, Westford, MA on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to make memorial contributions to celebrate Pam's love of gardening by donating to the McLaughlin Foundation, a public garden near her second home in Norway, Maine. Donations in Pam's name may be made out to the McLaughlin Foundation and sent to 97 Main Street, South Paris, Maine 04281 or by calling (207) 743-8820

Fifteen years without you, my dearest of all friends. The world is a darker place since you left, and my life hasn't been the same. I miss your sweet smile, our endless talks, and all the ways you brightened my life. If i'm quiet, I can hear your laugh and sometimes I swear I see you in a crowd. Love you always, Patti.

Still hard for me to believe that you're not here - that I can't pick up the phone and dish the latest with you. I miss you more than it is possible to express, my dear sweet wonderful best friend. Rest in peace.
