GREEN THAT MAKES A MARINE. IT ISN'T HOW MUCH HE CAN DRINK OR HOW OFTEN
HE'S BEEN IN THE CLINK, OR HOW MANY LAND'S HE'S SEEN THAT MAKES A
MARINE. A LEATHERNECK IS MORE THAN THAT, MORE THAN A MEDAL OR CAMPAIGN
HAT, MORE THAN A HASHMARK OR A COUPLE OF STRIPES, OR SOME IDLE
SCUTTLEBUTT AND PERPETUAL GRIPES. THIS IS BUT A CLOAK THE DRESS MARINE
NOT THE NAKED TRUTH THE ENEMY HAS SEEN ASK THE ENEMY WHAT A LEATHERNECK
IS THE ENEMY WILL TELL YOU THIS IT'S HIS MEETING A FOE OF SUPERIOR
MIGHT, UNMINDFUL OF NUMBERS AND READY TO FIGHT IT'S A LANDING, A
SPEARHEAD, A CHALLENGE, A RAID, WITH A BULLET, AND BAYONET , KNIFE AND
GRENADE. IT'S HIS STAMINA, SACIFICE, COURAGE AND GUT'S WITH OBEYING AN
ORDER WITH NO IF'S OR BUT'S. IT'S HIS LIVING IN FOXHOLES, IN MUCK AND

SUSPENSE IT'S HIS GOING THROUGH HELL TO FIND VICTORY, AND AT LAST AS HE
WATCHES THE ENEMY FLEE

TO DAD, I MISS YOU SO MUCH. I I TRYED SO HARD TO SAVE YOU AND TAKE CARE OF YOU. MOM REALLY MISSES YOU . ITS SO WIERD WITHOUT YOU AT THE HOUSE. IM SO USE TO SEEING YOU ALL OVER TOWN DRIVING THAT COL CAL CAR, SO MANY OTHERS MISS SEEING YOU TOO, I KNOW YOUR AROUND US DAD, I CAN FEEL IT. Mayyou rest in the peace you so honorably earned. Thank you for your service to God, our country, and to our beloved Corps. Stand tall on the streets of heaven and know that you are deeply missed.

To the Callahan Family: My sincere sympathy on the loss of Paul Callahan. I lived next door to the Callahan family for many years while growing up in Malden. I have fond memories of Paul coming home from Korea at Christmas time and coming to visit us. Again, my sincere sympathy on his passing.
