I can still hear Paul's beautiful voice singing All Good Gifts from Godpell during our many performances. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Paul was so loved. Photo from Mame.

Has it been 9 years? Time flies by so fast and life has taught me to reflect on the things that made me the man I am today. Paul, you were one of the people who made me feel like I was included in things. For so long before I met you, I felt like an outsider. You were always true and sincere and truly put me on the path to greater things in my life. I miss that we lost touch after high school but the memories of you live on forever

I was just looking through my photo album and found a photo of Paul in a show that we did at the Endicott Estate in 1977. Not only was he a good soul but he was such a talented man as well. He was a good friend to all who knew him and had a heart of gold. You are missed, Paul. Rest well.

Dear family, there is not a day that goes by that he isn't in my thoughts and prayers. I talk to him everyday. Words can't express how I miss him. I met Paul when I moved to houston in 2001. He was the first friend that I made there. I will never forget the first time that I set eyes on him. It was in the office which we both worked. He looked anoyed that he had to stop work and "show" me around. LOL! I thought right then "I will win this one over" Boy did I ! He became my best friend. I felt safe knowing that Paul was close. I can't possibly tell all of the experiences that we had together! My heart still breaks. The last time I saw him was in Boston as he walked away from me after a fun filled day in his town! I watched him until he turned and blew me a kiss. Then dissapeared into the crowd. I stood there and cryed wanting to run to him for one more hug. From the first time that I saw him until the last time seemed like a second. I miss him terribly. God Speed Paul , I love you dearly!

Paul was a dear friend for many years. I have so many special memories of him. Always there to offer a kind word, or to be a gentle listener, he loved people, and he was greatly loved in return. I will miss his laughter, and his sense of humor. My prayers are with the Heffernan family at this time of immearsurable loss. Paul loved his family, and shared so many stories with me of family times. He was a devoted son, brother, nephew, and uncle, and was happy to be returning to Boston to be closer. He will always remain close in our hearts and our memories.

I just heard that Paul passed away. I have been a friend of Paul for many years in Houston. I moved to Ohio 14 years ago, and was able to visit with Paul a few years ago. He was such a wonderful, kind, and intelligent man. I will never forget his beautiful smile and all the good times we shared. I am glad we was able to come back to his family.

Paul was such a delightful person who loved to have fun. Whenever I had any problems in my apartment, he was always ready to help and smiled. He also remembered every conversation and kept others first. He is very much missed. May God keep you. Frances Fenton

I was so blessed to have worked with Paul for the past three years. We had some great times together. Paul loved to scare me. He would pop out of corners and around doors every chance he had. I did manage to get him back a few times. He would laugh and laugh…he was always on the lookout for the next opportunity.
Sometimes work would be crazy and we shared some hard days together. One thing, Paul was always there the next day to see what the day would bring. We hated to see him leave the Abbey family but knew that his family needed him too. I cannot believe I will not be hear his voice or see his smiling face. He could sing. I will never forget his loyalty, hard work, wit and the love he had for everyone. He was a great guy. The entire team will miss and love him always. God bless and may the peace of God be with you all.

I have so many fond memories of Paul. He was someone who had a great capacity for showing love to others. My mind is flooded with memories from U-Mass/Boston and the Search for Christian Maturity/CYO. I just know that he is in heaven surrounded by his family and friends who have gone before him.

To the Heffernan Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. It has been years since I have seen him at St. Mary's. My mother, Veronica Lyons, told me she had just been speaking with Mrs. Heffernan (Paul's mother) and had just seen Paul and was so happy to have seen him back home. There are no words to express how sorry I am for your loss. God decided he needed a special angel and he chose a special one in Paul. Rest peacefully Paul.

PAUL HEFFERNAN: A very loved man, by many people here in Texas. When he moved, we all new it would be very different around the Abbey without the GoodMorning we would get from our Paul! However, we were so excited for him, watching him plan for his return to his family and his home in Boston. I am so glad I was here for the Garage Sale, and I am so glad I got a few Paul memoravilia items. A goodhearted man that will be missed by many .... we carry the love you gave us in our hearts Paul!

It broke my heart to hear of Paul's passing. My sincere condolences go out to his family. Paul and I did a lot of shows together in high school with the Dedham Youth Players and we used to play guitar together for the folk masses at St Mary's Church. Heaven has just welcomed another angel. Rest well, Paul.
