To the LaBrecque Family,

It is so heartwarming to read all the remembrances from the Highland Avenue neighborhood!! We lived right next door to Boppa at 212 Highland Ave, and the Dohertys lived on the other side & the Pecks across the street. Boppa always provided popsicles to ALL the kids in the summer, but since I was the only girl in the group (until Katie grew up!) he would give me a fudgsicle!! I always knew when he saw me playing outside, becuz from wherever he was, I would hear his rendition of "Mona Lisa" being sung in my honor, at "Boppa" volume! :) I loved hanging out with Mikki (Michelle), even staying over at her house in Abington a time or two and remember looking up to Debbie being the "most beautiful girl"!! I remember cookouts on the deck, playing with Donna the dog and running through our connected backyards, as if all 3 backyards were one giant yard! The whole neighborhood truly was an extended family! Boppa was a one of a kind individual and remained so special to all of us even though we hadn't seen him in many years. He's forever a part of all our childhoods, and in our hearts!! My deepest condolences on the loss of Boppa, who impacted so many for generations!

To the LaBrecque family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Boppa was a true Wollaston original. Salt of the earth as they say. Quincy is less of a place without him. I can still hear the red sox games playing on the tv in the back yard on those summer nights. The way he would call for his cat to come in at night. I remember him riding his bike through the neighborhood whistling away. His infectious laugh and the ever present smile. Rest in peace Boppa.
Our deepest condolences,
the whole Goodrich clan

The Roche Family (214 Highland) sends our sincere and heart felt condolences to all of the LaBrecque family. We all remember Boppa. There is a lot to remember. When my mother was pregnant with my brother Patrick (1969), we were all waiting to see if he would be born on Boppa's birthday (which he was!) Boppa pulled into his driveway that day and I was siting on that little iron fence i your front yard waiting to give him the good news! Boppa yelled out the window of his car as he pulled into the driveway "Did your mother have the baby?!"

When we visited with Boppa on his front lawn or porch, we really visited with Boppa and Donna (his Boston Terrier). He loved to sit out on that front porch and he waved to all the kids in the neighborhood, and he knew us all by name. Thank you Boppa for all of the great memories on Highland Ave.

The world would be a better place if there were more Boppa's! He genuinely cared about people and showed it in his many acts of kindness. He loved to give ice cream and cookies to the neighborhood kids! His smile was contagious!
Boppa rode a bike until he was in his 90"s! Because he had trouble with his hearing, I believe he had an angel by his side. About 10 or 15 years ago, we rode about 8 miles, and I was probably more tired than he was. He was amazing! I will treasure our bike rides and many wonderful chats!
Anyone who knew Boppa was blessed to have HIM in their lives!
I am very thankful! I will miss you so much!
You are now with your beloved Kay!
Peace and prayers to the entire family,
Helen

Sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. You don't know me but I delivered the Patriot Ledger to your home 1963-1967 before my brother Jerry took over.

Your father was my BEST tipper. I would collect the SIXTY CENTS every Friday... and by the time I got to your home on Belmont it was SUPPA time.

Your father would always insist I come in to the kitchen where everybody was sitting around eating.... he would always give me at least 50 cents... if not a dollar.... back then when most people would give a nickel, dime or a few a quarter.....

I remember your dad always in his dirty work clothes... sitting at the end of the kitchen table... he was always joyful and full of laughter...It was always my highlight of my Friday....

About 10 years ago... I took a bike ride through that neighborhood ( I still live in Quincy) and you father was outside.

I didn't expect to see him... ... we talked... he remembered me..... and also my brother jerry. I told him I never forgot what a great tipper and supa friendly guy he was! We both laughed....

/// My brother Jerry had just e-mailed me about his passing and the obit on the Ledger website.... In my brothers subject line was: BIG TIPPER!

P.S.......
The more I think about this.... I think I knew Anne.....as we both had a friend from St.Ann's school.....Billy Weed......

( I attended St. Ann's for 8 yrs) Every time Anne and I would see each other we would always say: "Do you know Billy Weed"... this went on for years...........
I may however be mixed up on this......but somehow my memory tells me I knew Anne.

Again, sorry to hear about the passing of your supa nice fatha!

Anne: Let me know if this "Billy Weed" story is correct........
