Devoted son of Ritchie Strangie and his wife Leigh Anne (Tobin) of Winthrop. Dear brother of Christopher Strangie and Stephanie Strangie, both of Winthrop. Cherished grandson of John Tobin and Claire (Paiva) and her husband Thomas Haddad and the late Gennaro "Cue Ball" and Mary (Thistle) Strangie. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Family and friends will honor Ritchie's life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., EAST BOSTON, on Monday, June 11th, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday morning at 8:30 A.M. before leaving in funeral procession to St. John the Evangelist Church, Winthrop St., Winthrop for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in celebration of Ritchie's life. Services will conclude with Ritchie being laid to rest in Winthrop Cemetery. Ritchie was a graduate of St. Mary's Lynn Class of 2008, UMass Lowell Class of 2012, and an active member and camper of Salesian Boys and Girls Club. He was a former employee of the Boston Herald. For the last two years, Ritchie courageously battled cancer, never giving up and fighting bravely every day. He will be missed by all who knew him and for that reason, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Research Fund of Dr. Elizabeth Mullen, Project #9617214 at Dana Farber Cancer Center, Boston, MA 02115, in memory of her much beloved patient, Ritchie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of great sorrow. We are wishing you peace to bring comfort and courage to face the tough days ahead. Ritchie is the best friend of my son Mikhail Sooknanan. During the years of their friendship I would occasionally speak to him. I remember him as a happy, wonderful and full of life young man. We will forever cherish his beautiful memories I know for sure my son will for he is missing him dearly. May his beautiful soul R.I.P.
