SHELDON ZIGELBAUM Obituary

ZIGELBAUM, Sheldon David Loving father, grandfather and friend Dr. Sheldon David Zigelbaum "Ziggy," 91, died peacefully on October 9, 2022, surrounded by his children. Born in Dorchester, MA, Ziggy lived life with enthusiasm. At age 14, he performed in the Catskills as a singing magician. He served as a dentist in the Army following WW2, where he pioneered the use of dental implants. After returning home, he received an MD in psychiatry from UVM. He was a world traveler, passionate sailor, skier, and gourmet. He served as a physician during MLK's march in Selma, participated in Timothy Leary's LSD experiments, created rehabilitation programs for convicts and helped defend Vietnam veterans by innovating and advocating for the treatment of PTSD. Ziggy is survived by his wife, Linda Barczyn. He was predeceased by his son Hal Zigelbaum and is survived by his children, Susan Flaherty of Norwell, MA, Jamie Zigelbaum of Barcelona, Spain, and Nick Zigelbaum of Chelsea, VT. Ziggy saved his best act for last â€" a loving and fun Papa to his six grandkids: Zach, Angus, Kellen, Leland, Amelia and Felix. A celebration of life will be held on November 25th from 1 pm to 5 pm at the home of Patti Levin. Please contact the family for details at [email protected].
