I just recently learned of Sid's passing. Sid was my first boss at Raytheon and continuously encouraged me to go beyond the specific task and use it as a learning experience. My condolences to the family. His many accomplishments ensure his legacy.

Sid was a fine man and excellent business leader. I worked with him for several years as general counsel for Scientific-Atlanta. Those were the best of years.

My hearts with you all, and I'll miss really miss Sid. Here is what I sent you earlier, Jo, once again: Oh Jo, as you know, I loved Sid. I am so grateful for his friendship through the years. My own dad died 29 years ago; Sid (and you) have helped me through those 29 years by letting me borrow his "dadness" when I most needed it. He listened to my many amateur songs, and wrote me encouraging notes about them. He was proud of me if I did something useful scienfitically -- I couldn't tell my own dad and mom, so long gone, but I could tell Sid, and knowing he was proud of me would make what I did have worth in my own eyes. I can't even begin to say how much this mattered to me, and got me through hard times. He sent me articles about peace, about nuclear weapons and treaties and disarmament, about peace for Israel and Palestine, voting rights, and about climate change, a flow of information that I learned from and made me care about him ever more through the years, as I could see what was on his mind, and what was on his mind was always a better way for humanity. When my own dad was not on this Earth to march in support of Black Lives Matter, there was Sid, over 90 and marching in Boston, so I could feel a borrowed-daughter's pride and love in him. He was a great-hearted man, and I'm so happy to have known him, and to have known him better through your stories, Jo. As you know, my dear Jo, I was always inclined to take his side , but I had a such debt of gratitude to pay. I'm so grateful he was on this planet, that he brought three amazing daughters up to carry on, and he has grandchildren to be guided by his moral compass. I'm grateful for his love, which I felt in his support so many times. Wishing you, Debbie and Martha strength and peace in memories of all that was fine in Sid, and in honoring all that is fine in you, and I take comfort in knowing the power of your sister-love will help get you three through this time, and times ahead.

Dear Lovely Family of Sid and Libby,
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your kind brilliant Sid.
I met Sid on the Boston Common there was a rally for nonviolence against guns. Sid was so kind to invite myself and my friend Patty to meet with him and his beautiful wife Libby. God bless all of you.
