TYLER MACAULAY COX

1991 - 2021

COX, Tyler MacAulay Of Newton, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2021, at age 29. Tyler was born on November 30, 1991 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was raised in Newton, and graduated from Newton North High School in 2010.

Since 2012, Tyler worked in the film industry, as a freelance production assistant and assistant director. Throughout his career he worked on a combination of over 30 movies and television shows.

Tyler was a charmer. He was sweet, funny, and selfless. He was both a gifted storyteller and musician. If you caught him doing an impersonation of you, it just meant he loved you more. Tyler cared so much for his family and friends, always willing to be there for those he loved. Sadly, his gentleness and sweetness did not extend to his relationship with his cars.

He is survived by his mother Kimberly Cox, grandmother (Nana) Lorraine Bower Cox of Newton, grandfather (Papa) David B. Cox of Gloucester, aunt Alison L. Cox and her husband Michael O'Dea of Gloucester, uncle David M. Cox and partner Geraldine Gottesman of Sag Harbor, NY, and his loving friends. Tyler is also survived by the New England film community, which he considered to be his extended family.

Family & friends are welcome to gather to celebrate Tyler's life and remember the love he shared with those he touched during Visiting Hours in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, MA on Saturday, August 7th, from 1-3 PM (masks required). https://www.brascofuneralhome.com A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
