Walter was my friend and mentor, and was the first head coach to hire me at Salem H.S. He hired me again when he was at Saugus H.S., and was a very influential and strong supporter when I was given my first head coaching opportunity. Having moved to Florida 37 years ago, I have lost track of the family, and hope that they are all healthy and happy. I think of Walter , often, he was a huge influence in my life.

Connie, my deepest sympathies to you and your entire family. It has been a long time with no communication, mainly because I've been in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the last 27 years. Walter gave me my first oppurtunity in Salem and NOBODY ever taught me more about coaching than he did. Now, my oldest daughter is married to the head football coach and athletic director at Cardinal Gibbons H.S. here in Ft. Lauderdale and my youngest daughter is the head volleyball coach. Because of things that I learned from Walter I've been able to impart some coaching wisdom to them. I have some wonderful memories from those days at both Salem and Saugus that I will cherish forever.Even though we haven't spoken recently, he will always be one of my mentors and will be greatly missed.

I met Walter 15 years ago. I've been very lucky to have him as a father-in-law. Though Larry and I have only been married a few years, I felt like he was my father-in-law all along. We will miss you Walter and will always think about you, especially when we see the "Hardy Boat" in Maine! "Here Comes the Hardy Boat" Love Pam and Larry
