Wendy Snyder MacNeil and her brother Don Snyder were my teachers at Andover and Abbott in 1969 and 1970. They both, in their own ways, inspired me to explore my passion for photography. In particular, Wendy's vision and humanity changed the course of my life.
Nicholas Callaway and I were her students at Abbet and she encouraged us both to take photography seriously. Both of us went to workshops at Center of the Eye in Aspen that summer, at her suggestion, to study with image-makers she knew.
Nicholas went on to MIT for a program led by her mentor, Minor White,. I went to study at RISD and Brown with Aaron Siskind and pursued an MFA with Nathan Lyons at his Visual Studies Workshop.
I will miss Wendy's amazing work and presence. If Don or any of her other students would like to reach me, email [email protected]

Wendy introduced me to photography at Abbot in 1967-68. She gave us a great start, served as a role model and challenged us to expand our technique and aesthetics. Because of her, photography has been an important part of my life. Thank you, Wendy!
