David Lee Sands

David Lee Sands, 75, of Swartz Creek, Mich., formerly of Bradenton, Fla., died Sept. 16, 2006, at his residence. Services will be held 1p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at the Faith Missionary Church, 1327 N. Elms Rd., Flint, Mich., Rev. Tom Knight officiating. The family will receive friends from 11a.m., until the time of service on Tuesday, at the church. Those who desire may make contributions to Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan Hospice. Mr. Sands was born March 23, 1931, in Morgantown, W.Va., the son of William and Ida (Volk) Sands. He was married to Dona Rae McKnight. He had resided in Swartz Creek, for 25 years, before moving to Bradenton, Fla., and just recently returned to Swartz Creek. He was a pattern maker all of his life and retired from General Motors. He was a devoted union member and officer of the Pattern Makers League. Surviving are: wife, Dona; three sons, David and wife Kathryn, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; Mark, of Flushing, Mich.; Brent and wife Ronel, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William and wife Virginia, of Chattanooga, Tenn.
