Joseph Howe Obituary

88, passed away July 2, 2015. Roy was born in Leaksville (now Eden), NC on October 26, 1926. He was the son of Carrie Wooten and William Leroy Howe. Roy served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1949. He did not see combat but was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, during the Allied occupation. There he met the love of his life, Anna Maria Stenz. Roy and Ann were married on January 15, 1949, and were married 57 years until her death in 2006. After his discharge from the Army, they initially settled in Reidsville, NC, while Roy went to King's Business College under the G.I. Bill and studied accounting. Job opportunities took them to Altavista, VA. Roy took a job as a purchasing agent with Klopman Mills (later bought by Burlington Industries) and moved his family to Asheboro, NC, their home for 44 years. In 2005, Roy and Ann moved to Freedom Village in Bradenton, FL. He was a member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. Roy was devoted to his family. He is survived by his son, Joseph Leroy "Lee" (Cindy) Howe Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC and their children, Graham and Ana; daughters, Luzia Trexler of Terre Haute, IN and her children, Nicholas and Kristalena and Carolyn (Steve) Roskamp of Bradenton, FL and their children, Brianna and Cameron; sister, Merle Williams of Eden, NC; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Rd. W., Bradenton, FL followed by a light reception. A private family Graveside Service will be held later in Eden, NC. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209 is in charge of arrangements. Nursing School of the Red Cross in Frankfurt

Dear Howe Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. You are all in our thoughts.
Roy established the Anna Stenz Howe Memorial Scholarship and supported the German Red Cross and our nursing school in Frankfurt, Germany. We will remember him with honour and gratitude.

Your family has my deepest sympathy on the passing of Roy. I worked with hin in the AltaVista plant and also transferred to Asheboro a year after Roy. He was a fine man. May he rest in peace. Godspeed.
