Catherine Smith Obituary

LUCKEY, Ohio -- Catherine Ann Smith, 85, passed away Sunday (March 29, 2026) at Old Orchard Nursing and Respiratory Center, Toledo.
She was born June 3, 1940, to John and Iva Moore Truby in Bradford, Pa. She graduated from Bradford High School. She was blessed with two children from a previous marriage. She found love again, and married Herman C. Smith, who passed away in December 1985.
In addition to being a homemaker, Catherine also worked as a caseworker for the Lucas County Department of Welfare for more than 10 years.
She is survived by her son, Bill (Paula) Graffius Jr. of Perrysburg; grandchildren William (Jenny) Graffius III of Rossford and Julie (Andrew) Jarrett of Perrysburg; great-grandchildren Billy, Zac, Drew, Colin and Emmitt; and sister, Esther Painter in Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; parents; daughter, Jill Graffius; and brother, Jack Truby.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday (April 3, 2026) when she will be laid to rest next to her daughter, Jill, in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, OH. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim Philabaum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio.
