William Bollman Obituary

Dr. William L. Bollman III (aka "Papa" or "Doc"), of Sunset Beach, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at his home.
Bill was born March 22, 1935, in Allentown, Pa., to William and Kathryne (Patrick) Bollman. He graduated from Allentown High School in 1952, Albright College in 1956, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1960, and interned at the former Allentown Osteopathic Hospital. On Dec. 27, 1958, he married Virginia Lee Hatton (Ginny). In 1961, he set up practice at his home in Macungie, Pa. As a family doctor he did it all, including delivering babies, removing tonsils, filling prescriptions, and making house calls. In 1973 after practicing out of his home for 12 years, Bill founded Macungie Medical Group with two partners. After 38 years of service, he retired from his role as "Macungie's Doctor".
Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was devoted to his wife, Ginny, for 60 years. Ginny was his rock and was able to care for Bill to the end. He was an avid golfer and sportsman and passionate about his ever changing hobbies, which included restoring vintage Mustangs, photography, cooking, and meticulously caring for his gardens and yard.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ginny, his children, Andrew Bollman (Kelly) of Marlborough, Mass., Elizabeth Seislove (Scott) of Nashville, Tenn., and Peter Bollman (Heather) of Northeast, Md.; his seven grandchildren, Megan, Kaitlyn, Allie, Patricia, Ryan, Kylie, and Madelyn; and his sister, Mary Lou Raymond, of Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Kathryne; his stepmother, Margaret, and his daughter, Patricia (Patty) Margaret.
A celebration of life service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8820 Old Georgetown Road S.W., Sunset Beach. Pastor Jack Patrick officiated. A reception followed at Sea Trail PO Swim, 295 Rice Mill Circle, Sunset Beach. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

News of Dr. Bollman's passing has reached us here in Ohio where we have landed, and our Macungie memories of Bill and Ginny are filling our heads. Our family was among that first wave of patients well served for decades by the then new Macungie Medical Group - 3 generations of us.
Both Harv and I send our gratitude and appreciation for Bill's place in our lives, and I send especially warm personal regards to Ginny for the work and times we have shared. Fond wishes go out to the entire Bollman Family as you remember and honor this fine and decent man.
