Daniel Utz Obituary

Daniel Utz

Bloomville - Daniel Utz, age 65, passed away unexpectedly Monday May 28, 2018. Dan was born July 20, 1952 in Willard Ohio to Robert F and Dona "Tarbutton" Utz. Dan graduated from Buckeye Central High School. He attended OSU for 1 year then returned to the family farm to do what he loved most, farming. He loved Tractor Pulling and was National Champion in 1981. He loved drag racing and all types of motor sports. He farmed on the family farm with his father for many years whom he dearly loved. The past 24 years he spent in the insurance business where he was successful in winning trips to Hawaii, Cancun, and Las Vegas. Recently he began working part time at Auto Zone in Tiffin. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

Dan is survived by his loving wife and best friend Barb Utz; children, Jeremy (Beth) Utz of New Washington, Matthew (Theresa) Tharp of Findlay, Robbie Utz of North Royalton, and Jennifer (Justin) Jacobs of Plymouth; grandchildren, Danny, Kenny, and Samantha Utz, Jay and Madison Tharp; brothers, Craig (Cathy) Utz and Douglas (Ginny) Utz; sister, Beth (Bob) Warren; in addition, he left behind several brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dan loved his family and loved spending time with them. He and his wife spent their summer weekends camping. His grandchildren were very special to him and he loved bragging about them. He loved attending their school functions and especially their sporting events. His favorite past time was taking his grandkids out to eat.

Dan had a love of anything John Deere. He loved his Ford truck and enjoyed many light hearted debates with friends over Ford's vs Chevy's and John Deere vs Case IH. Dan was a member of the Crawford County Gideons. Dan attended church faithfully at LifePoint Community Church in Plymouth Ohio.

The family will receive friends Saturday June 9, at LifePoint Church in Plymouth from 10-12PM. There will be a service following visitation at the church at 12PM. Memorials may be made to Buckeye Central Future Farmers of America and/or Gideons. Moments of remembrance may be left online at www.munzpirnstill.com

To Barb and all of the family - so sorry to hear of Dan's passing, but have many fond memories of his various adventures with cars and tractors. Found some photos of Dan on Thumper that I wanted to share - I believe from the Ohio State Fair in 1981. We'll be thinking of you during this most difficult time.
