Of Angola NY, 96, passed away on March 23, 2026 was born on April 13, 1929 in Lackawanna, NY. Beloved husband of the late Nancy Held (nee Smith); Dear Father of Russ (Jane), Dave (Marcia) Held, Sue (Mike) Reigle and the late Don Held; Grampa of 6 and Great-Grampa of 3. George was a proud World War II veteran in the US Navy. Retired from Carolina Freight Co. and was a life long Teamsters member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cutting and splitting wood at his camp in Ellington, NY. For the last few years he loved going for rides to get coffee with his dedicated and compassionate caregiver Jackie Doherty. Many thanks to her. A Private Burial with Military Honors will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hamburg, NY. Online condolences can be made at www.latimorefh.com.
