Age 89, of East Amherst NY, passed away after a brief illness. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Marliyn Neeson. Loving father of Hugh (Andrea) Neeson, Ann (Scott) Kaluf, Joseph (Kristy) Neeson and Mary (Brad) Bengart. Cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Also survived by Brothers John Neeson, Daniel Neeson, Sister Kathryn Neeson and many beloved nieces and nephews. Born in Buffalo, Hugh graduated from Bishop Timon High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Canisius College and an MBA from the University of Buffalo. In 1955 he took a job at Bell Aircraft and after 44 years Hugh retired as Vice President/ General Manager of Bell Aerospace/Textron Defense Systems, Niagara Frontier Operations. Hugh was very involved in preserving Western New York aviation history. He served as President of the Aero Club of Buffalo and the Lawrence D. Bell Air Force Association. He helped to create the Niagara Aerospace Museum where he served as trustee, board member, and historian. In the last year of his life he wrote a book titled "Larry Bell's Legacy: Aerospace Pioneering". Hugh was committed to giving back to the Western New York community. He served as an active alumnus and trustee of Bishop Timon High School and served as President of the Canisius College Alumni Association and as a member of the Board of Regents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Aero Club of Buffalo. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 12:00, Christ the King Chapel, Canisius University, 2001 Main St., Buffalo, NY.
