My prayers are with Fr. Ruddick's family and all those who are experiencing his loss. He was there for me in my darkest hours and he was with me in my happiest when he officiated at my marriage to my best friend, Fred, on January 27, 2001. I will miss him.

My sorrow is so deep at this time - Father Ruddick has been my spiritual director and advisor for nine years. He is irreplaceable.
Throughout all of our visits I cannot recall one time I did not come away feeling like a better person - and with hope.
I will never forget his constant reminder - "no matter what, remember that God loves you..."
I express my thanks to God and to Father Jim for his friendship, counsel, advice.
Father, let's make a date to see each other again.

Father Ruddick's Family,

I had written a few times to Father Ruddick regarding his extensive work on my (our)family's geneology. I am a descendant of Joseph Sick and was thrilled to find all of Father Jim's research and very happy to converse about it with him. My cousin (from Buffalo) visited with him a couple months ago and found him a very gracious and wonderful man. I am sorry we never got to meet, but I will remember him and keep you in my prayers. A long distant cousin,

While we only had one occassion to meet Father Ruddick at the Kelly family reunion last year, it was clear to us that he embodied the soul of a loving and caring human being. We are sorry we did not have an opportunity to know him better, but take consolation that he now resides in everlasting peace.

I send warm thoughts and prayers as you celebrate the life of Father Ruddick. He was pure sunshine, always thinking of the needs of others. I never had a conversation with him which did not leave me thinking and smiling. He engaged mind and heart with equal energy. He has left the world a far better place as a result of his presence in all our lives.

To Father Ruddick Family,
I wish to extend my sincere sympathy to you on the sudden, unexpected death of Father Jim.
As you may know, Father Jim's maternal grandmother was a sister of William Sick who was married to Catherine (Katie) Kelly, a daughter of Daniel and Mary Leahy Kelly, my great grandparents.
In July 2006, it was our privilege to have Father Jim celebrate Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church in Overton, PA on the occasion of the Kelly Family Reunion. Father Jim spent two days also attending the reunion at the Sullivan County Fairgrounds in Forksville, PA. He later told me what a great weekend that it was for him.
Ordained to the priesthood in 1955 well before the era of Vatican Council II, Father Jim was one of the best of the "old Jesuits." Although I got to know Father Jim personally only in the past several years, it was immediately clear that Father Jim was a warm human person and a wise, good priest. May he enjoy life everlasting.
