Jeffrey Taub Obituary
June 25, 1959 – April 11, 2014
Jeffrey A. Taub, owner and president of Federal Laboratories Chemical Corp. in Alden, died April 11 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a short illness. The East Amherst resident was 54.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Sweet Home High School, where he established a record for the long jump that stood for many years. He attended Cornell University.
Mr. Taub was instrumental in developing a nontoxic, odor-fighting spray called Abolish and an odor eliminator for veterinarians, both of which he marketed in the early 1990s.
In 1994, he founded Federal Laboratories, a manufacturer of nutritional supplements and pharmaceutical raw materials. He was the first to develop a compound from shark cartilage, which is used for treating arthritis, psoriasis and certain forms of cancer, and he was researching new products.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was a runner and a fisherman.
Surviving are two daughters, Hailey and Anna; his mother, Adelaide; and a sister, Diane Lipp.
A memorial service was held Sunday in Mesnekoff Funeral Home, East Amherst.

I found an old newspaper story about you from before I was born in the old days in 1989 when you made that odor abolish spray. I´m thinking about starting a business like you. I´ll post some old pictures.

So sorry to hear about Jeff passing. I just now found out. My name is Brad Bruner, I went to Sweet Home Jr and High School in 1972-74. I went to school with Jeff in 8th and 9th grade.
Jeff and I were good friends. We ran cross country and track together and we would hang out together outside school. I remember I day on a Saturday morning Jeff and I walked down to Niagara Falls Blvd Mall to watch a Clint Eastwood movie. The movie was rated R and you have to be 17 yrs old to get into it. The cashier asked Jeff how old we were, he said "we're 16". She said " you got to be 17." Then Jeff said. " Well. Then we're 17." She said,"you can't get in." So we ended up watching , Willy Wonka And the Chocolate Factory instead. Haha, so there are Jeff and I standing in line with a bunch of kids. but it was actually a good movie. Well I know it's been a while. But my prayers are with all his family . Shalom Aleichem

Dear Anna and Hailey, I just now learned of your dad's passing. I am shocked and so saddened. I guess it always seemed like he was immortal to me. He and my mom shared a birthday, and the two of them were very much alike - witty, warm, and just a little unpredictable. Your dad was a true genius and such a dear friend many years ago. Jeff could ALWAYS make me laugh, even when I did not want to. I never knew when he was going to just show up at my glass sliding door or pop up in the window to my office, making a silly face or posing like a pensive museum statue. He was also always looking in my medicine cabinet and my refrigerator, and telling me what I should throw out immediately! One day, just for fun, the two of us went to look at an expansive property for sale. It was a compound that overlooked the lake, with several buildings, including a stable. By the time we left, Jeff had names picked out for the horses. Even though he was not yet a dad when we last connected, he spoke about hoping to be one someday. I know he would be so proud of you, and I know he is watching over both of you with so much love. And, Anna, those drawings you post here? He would be over-the-moon impressed, as am I.

Yesterday evening Anna lit a candle overnight for her dad. It's his Jahrzeit. He lives on in her two beautiful girls.
Jeffrey is sadly missed. May he be at peace with God.

I enjoyed many adventures with Jeff growing up in the Maplemere neighborhood and it is with shock and sadness I read of his passing. But those good times and experiences with Jeff leave me with a smile...thanks to Jeff. My condolences his mother, sister, and Jeff's children.
