Sorry to hear of Mark's passing. We shared childhood play times as cousins. Mark's Dad was my Godfather, his Mom was my mother's (Stella) step-sister. Fond memories of our early life together. Sincere condolences to the family. Love and Hugs

So saddened by the news of his passing. We knew him from his tavern 911 that had the best wings. My daughter who lives overseas always requested a stop for wings when she came home for a visit. On one visit he came out to talk to us. Such a warm, friendly man with a smile to match. Thoughts and prayers to his family. He will be greatly missed.

Oh, gosh; such sad news
I had a schoolgirl crush on Mark in Jr. High, and we remained friends through high school. I remember Mark as a little bit of a “bad-boy”- “cool”, quiet, kind-hearted and with a mischievous streak. About 10 years ago, on a rare visit to WNY, we made a pilgrimage to The Nine Eleven Tavern, where I was so happy to see what he had built there; Mark spoke with such pride of his girls, his family, his home. Like he said that day of our friend mutual friend Pie, Mark was the “real deal”. It sounds like he will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to his family and close friends. I am so, so sorry for your loss. And to those reading, please consider a donation to Roswell Park in Mark’s memory.

I got to know Mark hanging out at Rappls in OP back in the 70’s & 80’s. He was a friend of my older brother. We’ve stayed in touch thru restaurant connections and I actually got to be in that little kitchen of his and watched him work. Hard working is an extreme understatement. RIP my friend. You will be missed!

To the Gress Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I used to wait on Mark at the bank all the time. It was always a pleasure he was always so organized! I actually graduated from OPHS with his brother Damien. I am so sorry I was unable to make it to the wake. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Gress Family....I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I was part of the Eden St gang who begged Mark to do French fries—an idea he absolutely hated and lovingly mastered along with everything else he did for his patrons!!
