Mildred Cavanaugh Obituary

Cavanaugh, Mildred Mildred C. "Millie" Cavanaugh, of Orchard Park, died on November 19, 2024. She was the only child born to Rodger and Jane McDermott on February 10, 1936. Millie spent her early childhood in Ellicottville, New York before moving to South Buffalo. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy in 1954 and earned a bachelor's degree from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy in 1958. As a rare woman in the field, Millie practiced pharmacy for 17 years at Coniglio's Pharmacy.

Millie was the beloved wife of the late Stephen E. "Tucker" Cavanaugh, to whom she was married for nearly 46 years. A devout Catholic, Millie was a proud member of Nativity of Our Lord Church for more than 50 years. Nothing was more important to her than attending mass, practicing her faith, and being a devoted wife and mother.

Millie loved to travel, with no place more special to her than New York City. She first fell in love with "the Big Apple" when visiting her namesake, Mildred Crowley, and dear cousin, Jane Crowley.

She is survived by her children Catherine C. (Christopher) Wolfgang, Stephen R. (Sarah), Jane M., Julia E. (Darren) Krasny and Clare M. Cavanaugh; and is the grandmother of Abigail and Hannah Wolfgang; Molly, Tucker, Meghan and Bridget Cavanaugh; and J. Nicole Krasny.

Friends and family gathered for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 25th at 10 AM at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 26 Thorn Avenue, Orchard Park, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Church in Millie's memory.

Clare and Jane and family, I am so deeply sorry. I just saw this or I would have been there for you all. I just lost my mom too so I understand the struggles you´re going through. Your dad and mom were very special and always very sweet and kind and I so enjoyed working with your dad. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Stay strong and remember them with all your special memories to help you through. Kathy Willard

Dear family,
My sincere sympathy on the passing of "Millie." May I share a few wonderful memories... Millie was a dedicated pharmacist, a woman of Faith, and my mentor at Coniglio's Pharmacy on Abbott Road from 1964-1966 when I was a pharmacy student intern. She taught me well, and always spoke to each patient with kindness and professional information. I'll always remember that she attended our wedding and wished us well on June 18,1966 (my dear late wife and I were married 53 years). I left Buffalo for grad school in hospital pharmacy at O.S.U. in 1966, and kept in touch with Millie through Vinnie Coniglio, my frat brother at U.B.
May you have many wonderful memories to cherish forever!
Prayers and blessings,
