Ron Meer was the best principal I ever worked for throughout my many years teaching in the Buffalo Public Schools. He was a true professional, a fine gentleman and an excellent friend. McKinley High School never enjoyed a period of higher morale than the years when he was our leader. When he first came to the school, he sat me down and said something unforgettable that I have quoted many times whenever the topic of administration arises. He said: "You are the expert in your classroom. Tell me what you need to succeed there so that I can provide it and then get out of your way."
When Ron left McKinley to take over the principal position at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, he saw the need to add a director in the Communication Arts Department. He called me. In that role, I was given a supreme opportunity to go beyond the English classroom into a world of artists, interacting with professionals in Theater and Dance and Music. It was life-changing and it was all because Ron Meer saw me and made an effort to open that door for me.
I will always be grateful to Ron and I will always appreciate the privilege of living and working under his guidance and his influence. Rest in wisdom and honor, Ron. You will not be forgotten.

Ron was a principal for us at City Honors, a colleague of mine when I was in Central Office, and, most importantly, a friend. He will be deeply missed ... but never forgotten. I am honored to have known and worked with him.

Ron was my colleague as an instructor in the D'Youville Education program. I admired his clear expectations of his students and his support and compassion for them as they tried to meet them. He deferred to me as the full-time instructor to his part-time, but he was my role model. The world is a little poorer today because Ron is gone. He was a mensch and a blessing.

Ron and Sharon Meer were part of my village growing up. Sharon was
"Summer Fun," and Ron was a mentor, a friend, and always a supporter of all of Liz´s and Jon´s friend group. Ron will be remembered and missed.

Fresh out of UB undergrad in January of 1968 I was thrust into teaching eighth grade math at Woodlawn Jr- where the old Bison ballpark once stood. It was bedlam just about every day. One day, in walks this man who I didn't know and was the new assistant principal.. Ron. I can't remember the exact words but he said something to the class with such a winsome flair that settled them from then on. Then of course coming to know him from about the town and Village whereabouts he was everything that the guys here that I'm reading have said he was. I am saddened by this loss, it gives me great pause

I would like to ditto Bob Fine's message. Ron was my camp counselor also. He was a wonderful man who greeted everyone with a smile and a warm handshake. My memories of him and Sharon are very fond.

Ron was my counselor at Camp Arrowhead in the 1950s. Sharon and he were dating at the time. They were a great couple and I loved having him as my counselor. I have seen Ron on occasions through the years and was always happy to see him. He was a gentleman, he cared about people and had a ready greeting and a smile. My thoughts are with you.
