Tommy, you were everything a sister could ever hope for. I love you so much. Not a day will ever go by that I will not miss you. You are always and forever in my heart. Love, Kiddo

I was saddened to see Tom's obit in the newspaper (I'm often 1-2 weeks late reading the News). I remember Tom so well from High School. He was laid back, and he never worried about doing the in thing or hanging with the right crowd. I admired him for that. We were friends off and on, especially in ninth grade when we put on a play — I think it was for Mrs. Britton's English class. I was the play's director, and Tom was in charge of sound effects. We concocted a cassette tape of sounds at his home one afternoon so we'd have them when the play was acted out in front of parents & teachers (in room 122 at LCHS, maybe?). For the sound of rushing wind we held a microphone near the inlet of a vacuum cleaner (the realism amazed the audience). When the script called for an “unusual noise” Tom & I decided on a flushing toilet, and the audience roared with laughter. We thought we were in real trouble (not so). Because we weren't actors we didn't get be in the play's group photo. Unfortunately, after graduation from LCHS, I never saw Tom again (my loss!). Why has our class of '76 from Lancaster H.S. been hit with so many early deaths? I hope Tom had a rich, fulfilling life — he deserved one.

I spent a year in Spain with Tom. I haven't seen him many years, and lost touch with him long ago, but I always thought that one day, the gang would get together again. We called him Tio Tomas, and we all loved him. When I look through the photo album in my mind's eye, Tom is in so many of the happiest moments. In my heart he will be forever young. Tom, I am sure you are in the Heaven branch of casa de las cervezas, enjoying a copa. Cheers my friend.

Dear Hager Family,
I am so very sorry that Tommy lost his battle with cancer. He was an inspiration to me as were you all for the love and care you gave to him. May God be with you all to ease your pain in knowing that he is no longer in pain.
