Robin Yandow Obituary

JESUP – Robin Lynn Yandow, 69 years old, of Jesup, Iowa, died Saturday, September 28, 2024, at UnityPoint – Allen Memorial Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, October 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Jesup. Burial will follow at the Littleton Cemetery, in Littleton, Iowa, with military honors by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup.
Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, at the White Funeral Home in Jesup, and continued for an hour before services on Wednesday, at the church.
Robin was born December 30, 1954, in Independence, Iowa, to Herbert Julius Friedrich and Laura Frances (Melrose) Friedrich. She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1973. She served her country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Navy. On October 6, 1973, she married Charles Edward Pilcher in Hawaii. The couple would later divorce. On December 26, 1977, she married Ernest Moses Yandow in San Diego, California. Both being members of the military, they would make their home in multiple states before moving back to Jesup in the late 1970s. Robin had a talent for cooking and ran the officer's club while in the Navy and she worked as a cook at the Mental Health Institute in Independence for many years. She also cooked at Jesup Community Schools and worked in the deli at Schares Food Mart in Jesup before retiring to babysit and provide daycare for her beloved grandchildren. Robin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jesup.
Robin loved her family and enjoyed being able to watch her grandchildren grow up. She liked to read, cross-stitch, and take the family camping. She had a good sense of humor and a knack for calling at the most inopportune times. She was a great cook and she loved her Diet Pepsi and Werther's Original candy.
Robin is survived by her husband, Ernie Yandow of Jesup; her three children: Jason (Annette) Pilcher, Rachelle (Jason) Hesse, and Zane (Erin) Yandow, all of Jesup; 10 grandchildren; her mom and dad, Laura and Leroy Klendworth of Independence; her brothers and sister: Randy (Nancy) Friedrich of Independence, Phil (Rita) Klendworth of Ft. Worth, Texas, Brent (Cindy) Klendworth of Fairbank, Iowa, and Felicia (Wes) Cooper of Jesup; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Friedrich; one sister Laurie Wieland; and one brother, Todd Klendworth.
