Vaudie Wiley Obituary
Vaudie Inez (Jones) Wiley entered into eternal life on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at the age of 89.
Vaudie was born on July 3, 1924 to Guy and Ora (Riggs) Jones at Peace Valley, Mo.
Vaudie spent her early childhood in Missouri and Arkansas. The family moved to Colorado where Vaudie attended and graduated from Armel High School in 1942.
In 1944 Vaudie graduated from business college in Denver and was employed in St. Francis, Kan.
Vaudie became Ward Wiley's high school sweetheart and they were married Jan. 14, 1945 at the Methodist Church in St. Francis, Kan. To this union three loving daughters were born, Patricia, Susan and Sally.
Vaudie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was enriched by all the beauty and majesty that God had given her to enjoy.
She worked alongside Ward on their family farm and ranch east of Idalia.
Vaudie enjoyed gardening, canning, needlework and was later an avid reader.
Family, friends and anyone who came to enjoy a meal at the Wiley home quickly learned that cooking was her forte.
She was a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher and UMW member.
Vaudie and Ward loved to dance. The waltz and square dance were their favorites.
Both enjoyed fishing, Sunday afternoon drives, playing cards and having coffee with neighborhood friends and family.
Vaudie made sure that each of her grandchildren knew the joys of coffee at an early age.
In 1984, Vaudie and Ward moved to Burlington and volunteered at the Colorado Welcome Center and enjoyed traveling.
A highlight for them was spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
They delighted in attending their 4-H and FFA activities, sporting events, music programs, plays and any other events they participated in.
2010 found them moving to Wheatridge Acres in Goodland, Kan. and then to Greeley in July of 2012. She loved playing bingo, Wii bowling, having cappuccino and making new friends.
Vaudie is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, her parents, brothers-in-law Ray and Royce Wiley, and son-in-law Steve Knodel.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia Meyer and husband Les of Greeley, Sally Parker and husband Brett of Burlington, and Susan Kunnemann and husband Myron of Imperial, Neb.; sisters-in-law JoAnn Wiley of Burlington and Delores Wiley of St. Francis, Kan.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of wonderful friends.
