MARLENE CLARK Obituary

MARLENE META CLARK HARDWICK - Marlene Meta Clark, 75, died Friday, May 1, 2009 in the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin from injuries received earlier in the day in an automobile accident in East Montpelier. Marlene was born Dec. 17, 1933 in Burlington, the daughter of Charles Wilkinson and Constance Mae (Coleman) Jameson. She received her early education in Burlington schools and graduated from Burlington High School in 1951. After living for a period of time in Vergennes and Enosburg Falls, she made her home in Hardwick in 1961 and was employed as an administrative assistant at Hazen Union School in Hardwick for 36 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick and was a member of Court St. Veronica, Catholic Daughters of America in Hardwick. Marlene is survived by her son and his wife, Michael and Alicia Clark of East Hardwick; two daughters and their husbands, Lynn and James Millard of South Hero, and Julie and Gene Gravel of Graniteville; a daughter-in-law, Shannon Clark of Waterville, Minn.; grandchildren Caleb, Jacob, Heather, Michael, Nicholas, Ryley, Nathan, Jeffrey and Jimmy; great-grandchildren Emma, Maia, Ryan and Gavin. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Clark and her daughter, Sheri Clark. Marlene will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to her family and the many people who knew her. She loved attending sporting events, concerts and any events that involved her family and students she cared for. She was happiest when she was active and it was not an unusual sight to see her at the playground with her grandchildren, pitching or kicking a ball, throwing a frisbee or walking every day with friends. Some of the most fulfilling events in Marlene's life were the annual family reunions that she organized and the holidays she hosted. She loved to see all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren sharing good times together. Marlene's family extended to the many colleagues and students she cared for at Hazen Union, so in accordance with the family's wishes, contributions can be made to the Marlene Clark Scholarship Fund, Hazen Union School, PO Box 368, Hardwick, Vermont 05843. No visiting hours are scheduled at her request. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 3 p.m. at the St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardwick followed by a reception at the church. Graveside services will be at the North Ferrisburg Cemetery in North Ferrisburg that evening at 7p.m. DesGroseilliers Funeral Home in Hardwick is handling arrangements.

I have wonderful memories that I will cherish. We did a lot of things that I often think back on and laugh. When I moved to Lyndonville every time I got back to Hardwick I was always in a hurry so would say to myself "I'll see Marlene next time" next time rarely came and I regret that now. Marlene was very special to me and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I have many fond memories of Marlene. Some were from working at the Kwik Stop and she would come in every day and she always had a smile and kind words for me. I would always joke with her about me wanting her job at Hazen. "Put your name in" she would say. I won't be there forever!" And she would smile that smile that spoke volumes. I was here for Sheri's funeral, but sadly, I was in fl. for Pat's. When I did make it home one of the first things I did was to find her and give her my condolences. She was very special to me and she will be missed.

A lady who truly made a difference!
Marlene was the pricipal's secretary when I attended school at Hazen (1991 grad). She always had a smile on her face and made being there so much easier. My 2 daughters now attend Hazen and said they will miss her alot(as she still filled in quite often when needed) "she was the nicest lady in the office"!!! You are in our thoughts and prayers.
