MICHAEL OLE HANSEN - SHELBURNE -- Michael Ole Hansen, age 41, passed away on July 13, 2015, resulting from a tragic swimming accident at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington. He was raised in Charlotte and attended Charlotte Central School and Champlain Valley Union High School, graduating in 1992. He also leaves his grandmother, Gudny Rivers; aunt and uncle, Annette Hansen and Bob Smith; aunt, Mary Savela; and extended family in Denmark. Michael's family and friends will miss him immensely. Michael was predeceased by his father; and Kristy Duprat, the mother of his children. The family would like to thank all the rescue personnel and other individuals at the scene of the accident for all their efforts. Arrangements are in the hands of Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, Shelburne. A private graveside service for Michael will be held in the near future at Grandview Cemetery in Charlotte.

I am heartbroken. Michael was my best friend and brother growing up, we had many adventures and he was always my protector in school, if anyone gave me a hard time, let him know and he would take care of it! I'm in shock, numb and can't believe someone who was doing so well in life can suddenly be snatched away. I am so proud for overcoming so many obstacles in life and for being such a good, loving Dad, brother, son, and grandson.
Love always,
Your sister, Bridget

I'm heartbroken to hear of Michael's passing. He was a TRUE FRIEND to all who knew him.
I'll never forget the time we spent together through the good times and bad. I've never met anyone so willing to help other even when he was down and out. He always put other people and animals before himself.
Your wonderful smile and unique laugh will be remembered for the rest of my life.
Rest in peace my friend.
Love ya buddy!

I still can't quite grasp the fact that you're no longer here. I am incredibly proud of all your accomplishments and hard work getting your life together. It was a pleasure to see you grow, in all meanings of the word. What I'll miss most- your eagerness to help others- anyone who asked or not- with a ready smile; your always remembering to ask about Bob and send love; your love for your boys; and your sense of adventure... I love you and miss you, sweetie!
