Ralph Bartholomew Obituary

RALPH BARTHOLOMEW III SINGER ISLAND, Fla. / STOWE, Vt. - Ralph Bartholomew III died peacefully at his favorite home in Stowe after the fall foliage and following the recent death of his younger brother, Edward. Ralph III, born in Brooklyn on Nov. 4, 1941, grew up in Scarsdale, N.Y. He attended Edgemont High School, Bates College in Maine and the Johnson School of Business Administration at Cornell University, receiving his MBA there in 1966. Following graduate school and a short time in the US Marine Corps, Ralph joined Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith as a stock broker and worked in Manhattan for over 10 years. He held management positions in Cleveland, Ohio and Las Vegas, Nev. and in the early eighties he moved to Florida to assist in managing the Merrill Lynch office in Palm Beach. He retired from ML in 1994 when he began summering in Stowe to be near family. Ralph was a meticulous student of economics and business. Ralph is predeceased by his brother Edward K., and his parents, Ralph Bartholomew II and Helen Kohler Bartholomew. He is survived by his nephew, John Kelly Bartholomew of South Burlington and sister-in-law, Margaret Bartholomew and her daughter and son in law Molly and Mark McCooey. A memorial service will be held at St Paul's Cathedral on Friday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Humane Society of Chittenden Co., 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, VT 05403.
