Daniel W. "Boonie" Smith

Daniel W. "Boonie" Smith, 60, of East Butler, passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 6, 1965, in Butler. He was the son of Ralph and Betty (Williams) Smith.
Daniel graduated from Butler High School in 1983. After graduating, Daniel attended New Castle School of Trades, where he became a certified welder. He then went on to work for Robinson Fan as a welder. Daniel enjoyed hunting, camping and riding his Harley, as well as spending time with his loving family, especially his granddaughter, who was the apple of his eye.
In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kathleen (Christie) Smith, whom he married July 1, 1995; his son, Michael Christie; his granddaughter, Kaylee Brook Christie; his sister, Ronda Claypoole; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
SMITH - A visitation for Daniel W. "Boonie" Smith, who died Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Edmundson officiating.
A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
