This is Laurel's husband Greg chiming in late since I only found this site by today. Thank you so very much for your kindness. It is very kind of you to think of us in this difficult time.

Laurel will always be my hero. On the home front, we saw her maintain a very positive and kind attitude right until the end. She was able to spend all but her last hours at home. Despite the erosion of her abilities and the relatively crude treatments we have at our disposal today, she never got needy, angry, or anything like that. Her selflessness and kindness were monumental and will inspire us always.

What her sons and I asked of friends was nothing other than taking some extra time and spending it with loved ones. That extra time to appreciate those you love is the best gift to us we can think of.

Thank you all again for your kindness.

My heart is sad for you all. Laurel was one terrific girl. Her smile and determination lit up any room she entered. Talent, beauty, intelligence and above all KINDNESS exuded from her being. Her valiant coping and fight against her nemesis for the past seven years only strengthened her character and displayed to the world the “stuff” she was made of. I cannot imagine your grief, your sense of loss, your pain, but I do know Laurel was a proud reflection of her family. Her “kind face” was inherited and she will be missed but she was so LOVED, and so are you Joyce Family.
