Stephen Ference
Stephen Ference, 81, of Wilkinsburg died suddenly of a massive stroke Tuesday.
Born Dec. 11, 1927, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Hornick) Ference.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Jeanette "Jan" (Bilowich) Ference; and beloved daughters and sons-in-law; Cynthia Ference-Kelly and Joseph Kelly of O'Hara Township and Mary Anne and Bill Mistick of Edgewood. Also surviving is his older brother, Peter, of La Grange, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
FERENCE - Friends and family of Stephen Ference, who died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Nied Funeral Home, 7441 Washington Ave., Swissvale. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. Everyone please meet at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania, 614 Dorseyville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.

Dear Beloved Jan and her precious daughters and devoted sons-in-law

You and Steve were an amazing and devoted couple. Your support of eachother over a lifetime is a beautiful example for people who have known and loved you.

I am so thankful that I was able to meet both of you and develop a friendship. Please take care of yourselves and find comfort in knowing that Steve loved all of you so much and was so aware of your love for him.

I am so grateful that you called.
