Stephen Nicotra Obituary

Stephen J. Nicotra, 55, of Mars, formerly of Shaler Township, passed away unexpectedly Friday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
Born April 5, 1963, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Samuel J. and Sandra J. Baughman Nicotra.
He held a bachelor's degree in business and accounting from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree in finance from Robert Morris University.
Steve was vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Oxford Development in Pittsburgh, where he had worked since 1991.
Steve adored his wife and children. He loved to go to his kids sporting events or just stay home and sit on the floor to play and build.
His love extended to his nieces and nephews who he always made laugh. He was always willing to drop everything and serve friends and family in any way they needed.
When he wasn't watching a Steelers game, you often found him working on projects around the house and sharing lessons with the kids.
He loved to work with his hands, doing things like gardening, building an ice rink in the yard for his kids, or renovating another part of their home to make progress on his honey-do list for his loving wife, so he could make their home just right.
Steve's perfectly timed sense of humor was always just right for brightening up a room.
Steve was a man of faith and knew he would be joining God in heaven after his temporary time on Earth.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn Harshaw Nicotra, whom he married on May 24, 2002; his children, Ella, Gianna and Eli Nicotra; his parents, Samuel and Sandra Nicotra of Reserve Township; a brother, Samuel M. (Bonita) Nicotra of Allison Park; a sister, Shari (Christian) Roth of Shaler; his father and mother-in-law, James L. and Peggy Harshaw Sr. of Wexford; a sister-in-law, Michele Harshaw of Gibsonia; a brother-in-law, James L. (Allison) Harshaw Jr. of Charlottesville, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the auditorium at Victory Family Church, 21150 Rt. 19, Cranberry Township. Please meet at the church.
Burial will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park.

Having grown up with Steve ,Sam and Shari my heart is broken for everyone. There were Many afternoon games of release and softball and laughing as kids do. Everybody thought Steve was the quiet one yet he was just the master mind. My sister left this world just 3 short years ago for the better life and I'm quite certain she will find Steve for a good game of ball and talking about all of the jokes we played on one another. Sadness is only for those of us here. They have moved to a beautiful care free life. They have life after life. Until we all meet again, you two have to pick teams. We will all eventually catch you on the flip side. My heart goes out to The Nicotra family but rest assured Steve is ok. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Dawn and kids,
There are no possible words one could say to ease the pain of Steve's unexpected passing. The only comfort I could possibly extend is for you to know that you had a man who completely loved you and your children whole heartedly. Every time you look into those beautiful children's eyes let it serve as a reminder of the unconditional love the two of you shared. My deepest sympathies are with you and your family at this time. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
