Matthew Beveridge Obituary

Matthew Ryan Beveridge, 20, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Friday, October 10, 2008. Matt was a devoted Christian young man who gave his love and life to God, his family and his friends, including the doctors and nurses who cared so intensely for him over the past two years. Matt was a 2007, magna cum laude graduate of King High School. Matt spent the last 2 1/2 years battling (ALCL) lymphoma cancer. Matt was a baseball fanatic since the day he would walk. He began playing league baseball by age 5 by going to the T-ball All-Star State Tournament his first year and never slowing down after that point. He was a standout All-District baseball player at King High School and played football three years at King as well. Matt was totally and completely devoted to God. Matt was fully committed to Christian Youth Leadership in the Young Life Program under the direction of Ken White. Matt loved being involved with this church and youth group at the Fellowship of Oso Creek Church. Five of the men Matt admired most where his dad, Garry, Sr., Ken White, Young Life Director, John Bradshaw, Pastor of Oso Creek Church, his grandfather, Doug McBee and his big brother, Garry, Jr. Matt was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Carolyn McBee. He is survived by his parents: Garry and Laurie Beveridge; brother, Garry, Jr.; grandfather, Doug McBee; uncles, Doug McBee, Jr. and Chuck Trexlor all of Corpus Christi, Texas; other uncle Robert and Dana McBee of Austin; cousins: Frank and Arlene Harrison and their children: Ben, Brian, Greg, Holly and Luke Wright all of San Antonio; Kathy, Mike and Drew Switzer of Greely, Colorado; Laura Harrison and Rhonda Kapellar of Columbus,Texas; Dan and Dianne Harrison and their children: Debbie, Donna, Stephen and Julie of San Antonio, Texas; Don and Janet Harrison and their children of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Wayne McBee, Yvonne and Jesse Hargrove, Jimmy and Dini McBee and their children, Justin and J. W. McBee; and the Driscoll Children's Hospital Oncology staff and entire 4th floor nursing staff/family. A Celebration of Matt's Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 at the Fellowship of Oso Creek Church, 7402 Yorktown at Rodd Field Rd. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Matt loved people, but most of all he loved God. What he desired most in life was to spread the good news of Jesus and to tell as many young people about him. He truly felt his calling in this world was to share God's love to as many people as he could. Matt wanted to "THANK" all the many wonderful people who kept up with his journaling on the caringbridge website. The family would also like to thank Hass Middle School, Driscoll Middle School and King High School families for their incredible support over the past two years.
