William Kurtz Obituary

William Kurtz was born May 17, 1972 in Canon City, CO and passed away in his home after a lengthy illness in Denver, CO on November 30, 2013. He loved to cook and after high school earned a Culinary Arts Vocationl Certificate. William studied Geology with an emphasis on Paleontology at CU Denver. In 2000, he found the Anklyosaur tracks known as Tetrapodosaurus borealis on Skyline Drive. William also took part in several National Geographic dinosaur digs and had several scientific papers published. He volunteered at the Denver Museum of History and Science, worked at the Woodland Park Museum, and the Morrison Museum. He was a guest speaker at multiple archeological conferences, was active on eBay with dinosaur relics, and was skilled at making molds and casting dinosaur bones. He hoped to someday obtain a PHD in paleontology and open his own dinosaur museum. William later worked for the DOC in Fremont and Pueblo County and held a Private Investigator license. He was an avid fisher and bicyclist and participated in many bike races. William is remembered by his parents Betty Kurtz (Pueblo, CO) and John Kurtz (Ordway, CO), his brother Mark Kurtz (Colorado Springs, CO) his children Lauren Kurtz (Fort Collins, CO) and Christopher Kurtz (Canon City, CO), and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial Service to be held Saturday December 7th at 2 pm at the Holt Mortuary.
