Sept. 30, 1939 to April 1, 2021 "Together Forever"

Age 81 of North Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Albert was born in Canton, Ohio on Sept. 30, 1939 to loving parents Francesco and Vincenzina (Lioi) Carioti. He attended Gibbs Elementary and Timken High School. He served in the U.S. Army and later attended Kent State University. He began his career in the grocery industry in 1955 working at Loblaw's where he met the love of his life Barbara, and they were married at St. Louis Catholic Church on Sept. 14, 1963. Al devoted his life to his family. His three children, Stephanie, Kelly and Michael and grandson, Andrew.

His faith was very important to him and he was an active member over the years of St. Paul Catholic Church and attended regular masses at the House of Loreto. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and cherished the friendships he had with his brother Knights. Al worked for over 30 years at the McClain Grocery Company in Massillon, Ohio, which was later acquired by Fleming Foods. He held numerous positions and retired in 2000 as the head of grocery merchandising. He was a member of the East-Central Ohio Food Dealers Association. His co-workers, clients and manufacturer reps became some of his dearest friends, and he truly valued their friendships. He looked forward to monthly luncheons at John's Bar and the Eagles, so he could stay connected and reminisce about the past.

He was proud of his Italian heritage. One of his greatest life experiences was traveling with his family to Italy for his 50th wedding anniversary in 2013 and visiting the birthplace of his parents, Sant'Andrea, Italy. He shared an incredible family dinner on the Ionian Sea, which was a highlight of the trip. He had a love for Frank Sinatra and listened to his music every evening before going to bed. Al was an avid sports fan. He had a love for The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs. He had a photographic memory and enjoyed replaying games play by play for his family and friends. He enjoyed playing euchre and spending Saturdays with his brothers.

He is survived by children, Stephanie (Richard) Mohar of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Kelly Carioti of Corona del Mar, California and Michael Carioti of St. Petersburg, Fla; grandson, Andrew Mohar, currently a student at Tufts University in Boston, Mass; brothers, Joseph and Gerald of Canton, Ohio; Special friends, Dan and Martha Meadows and family of North Canton, Ohio, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; parents, Francesco and Vincenzina (Lioi); in-laws, Jack and Twila (Hoover) Wichern; brother, Frank Carioti and sister, Mary Slicker. Al was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was a great cook and enjoyed celebrating holidays with many special family recipes. Al will always remain in the hearts of his loved ones and serve as an inspiration to his family and friends. In his honor, he would love for you to enjoy a safe, wonderful dinner with your friends and families.
