age 63, passed away Feb. 18, 2015. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW. as well as one hour prior in the church. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jackson Friends Church, 7945 Portage Street NW Massillon with Pastor John Williams officiating. Dr. Spohn was my physician since before I could remember and the news of his passing deeply saddens me. I've never known a trip to the doctor without his warm, positive presence. He never failed to ask me about my parents, grandparents, college choices, and interests whenever I visited, which was remarkable considering he had so many patients. It's very rare to find someone with such a kind and caring heart, but I am so glad that I knew him and others got the opportunity to do so also. Rest in peace and thank you for making an impact on my life, Dr. Spohn.

It is with a heavy heart that we send our very deepest sympathies to Dr. Spohn's immediate family, his Children's Physicians Family, and the patient family that he cared for so deeply! He was such a special doctor because he made you feel like one of his family...all four of our children always looked forward to saying hello and catching up with him; he never failed to ask me, the Mommy, how I was feeling, to inquire about my job, my husband, my extended family...he had a great memory and a real God-given gift with people. My children were very sad at the news of his passing, and my only way of making them feel better was to say "Dr. Spohn spent his whole life making children healthy and happy...he would want you to be happy!" Our loss is heaven's gain - we are very fortunate to have been a small part of his life. Thank you for sharing him with our family for the past 10 years. We will miss you, Dr. Spohn!

Tears come to my eyes as I read all the messages here. Dr Spohn was a wonderful physician and man. I had the opportunity to work in a local nursery where I first met Dr spohn. He was the physician for my four children (27,25,24,23) I also saw Dr Sponh when I was a pharmaceutical sales rep. In all phases of my contact with Greg he was unbelievable kind and I will always have wonderful memories of him. God bless his family and friends as they deal with his loss. God has definately received an angel!

So sorry to hear about Dr. Spohn's passing. He was my sister's kids pediatrician before we had children and then he saw our kids all the way to their adulthood. He was a wonderful doctor a wonderful person. We considered him a friend. May God hold you in his hand through this difficult time.

We were so upset when we learned of Dr. Spohns passing. He has been our pediatrician for the past 12 years. Our children loved him dearly and my husband and I did as well. He was an amazing doctor as well as a friend. He never hesitated to share his faith and that is something that made him a mentor to our kids. We enjoyed a running joke with him that we'd follow him anywhere he went because we all loved him so much! We take joy in knowing that we will see him again in Heaven. He will be missed dearly and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Sadness is all around our home with the loss of such a wonderful man! He was my children's physician for all of their childhood and then some. We were saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Spohn. We had the privilege to be a patient of his for 19 years. He was an amazing pediatrician and friend, so thoughtful and caring. I've never met a person more called to be a pediatric Doctor than Greg Spohn. His gentle caring nature was so comforting when your little ones were sick. There was nothing superficial about him - he was a genuinely good natured person..and these type of people are the ones that impact your life. The ones we miss the most, but also so lucky to have known. God bless his family and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

My family and I are deeply sadden by the loss of Dr. Gregory Spohn. He was my children's pediatrician for 29 years. When my son was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, Dr. Spohn kept his photo on the wall where it remained. My son surprised Dr. Spohn by visiting in uniform and bringing him a gift from Afghanistan that sat on Dr. Spohn's desk. He was family to us, not just my children's doctor. I am in tears and heartbroken. He will always remain in my and mine families hearts. Our hearts go out to his wife and 2 children, and his family. Peace is yours in the Lord, Dr. Spohn.

Dr. Spohn was a great doctor and friend. We went to him for 12 years When my kids would have an appointment with him he would make them laugh and have fun playing hide and seek with them. He will be truly missed.

Greg was the most caring, kind, compassionate and loving doctor we have ever known. He not only was our doctor, he was our friend. There is a spot in my heart and all my family's heart that will have a hole in it. heaven has gained a wonderful person who loved his family with all his heart. Dear Spohn Family,
Dr. Greg's passing brought much sorrow to me. I was so blessed to have known him. Dr Spohn was assigned to my firstborn when I had no idea about how to set up care with a pediatrician. Dr. Greg graciously and loving accepted this assignment caring for my first daughter as well as my second and third daughters. My children all received loving care from Dr. Greg (they remember him - now 28, 26, & 24 with children of their own). Dr. Greg spoke lovingly of his family many times while my children were under his care. May God provide his comfort and strength to you and to the staff of Children's Physicians during this time of sorrow.

Greg was loved by all the Pediatric nursing staff at Mercy. For the many years I was the nursing director there Greg never ever minded being called with concerns about his patients. He was so kind and gentle to all his patients. Always an excellent role model for other physicians too. Heaven has gained an angel. Prayers to all his family members.

Dr. Spohn was the kindest Doctor that I have had the privilege knowing. He cared for my children until they became adults. He was the only Physician that I can recall administering injections then comforting the child. The medical community lost a great Physician. He spoke of his family often with obvious love. Greg was the kindest, caring, loving, genuine person our family has ever known. Not only was he our 5 kid's pediatrician for 30 years he was also now the pediatrician for our grandson. Heaven received a great man. Dr. Spohn had just started his practice here when I took my first born to him. He was such an amazing doctor but more than that he was an awesome man. I was disappointed when we had to leave the practice because my children became adults. I wanted him to see them forever! My deepest sympathy to his wife and children. Dear Julie and children.
You all are family to us. As you know Greg's Grandfather and Mary Jo's grandfather immigrated to Wisconsin from Italy together on the same boat.
It was such a small world when we discovered this and it was meant to be that your Dad and Husband would be our family doctor for our 4 children for 24 years.
Greg was special and gentle Doctor. Never judgmental and, very calm, and never made us feel rushed.
We as will miss Greg very much.
