Homer Fall Obituary

Fall, Homer J.
age 59, of East Rochester
lost his battle with Small-Cell lung Cancer on Wed., Feb 4, 2009 after 16 months of fighting. He was born August 6, 1949 to the late Robert and Dorthea (Long) Fall. He worked for Darrah Lumber, Ollis Drywall and was a subcontracted drywall hanger. He was a graduate of East Canton High School, a past president of the American Sportsman's Club in East Canton, past president of the East Canton Lion's Club, a life member of the NRA and belonged to the National Wildlife Turkey Foundation. Homer was an avid deer hunter and loved the outdoors. He was known at the By the Way Café which his wife and daughter Staci owned. He enjoyed many cups of coffee with the many friends he made there. He is survived by
his wife of 34 years, Barbara (Lockard) Fall whom he married Oct. 18, 1974; two daughters, Staci Smith of Minerva, Sharon (Larry) Fankhauser of Minerva; one son,
Raymond Lawson of Minerva;
sister, D. Marie (Tim) Hoover of Alliance; one brother, Donald (Anita) Fall of Alliance; son-in-law,
Chris Smith of Canton;
grandchildren, Lauren, Evan and
Mason Smith of Minerva,
Cody Fankhauser of Randolph,
Kelsee Fankhauser of Minerva;
step grandchildren, Ryan and Calvin Lawson of Minerva, Tristan smith of Minerva. Homer truly loved his grandchildren and did what he could for them. They were the light of his life! He is preceded in death by
infant brother, Russell Fall,
infant granddaughter. Shawnee Fankhauser. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, with Rev. Fred Bays officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Homer was known for his kindness toward his friends and neighbors. He was quick with a smile and a wave of his hand. We will ever remember him sitting at the restaurant drinking coffee and greeting us when we came in. He will be missed.
