Joseph Schiffer Obituary

Joseph P. Schiffer
83, passed away Aug. 21, 2012 at Aultman Hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1929 in Canton, the last of 10 children to Anthony and Catherine Schiffer. He attended Lincoln High School and Kent State University. Following three years in the US Air Force, he worked with Dun & Bradstreet as a financial analyst for 27 years. From 1978 to 1996, along with his wife, Louise, he operated Metro Records, as a consultant to major insurance companies. After retiring for a time, he worked with Enterprise-Rent- A-Car for six years.
Preceded in death by his parents and nine sisters and brothers. Survived by his wife, Louise (Masuch), they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Oct. 7. Also surviving are sons, Jerry (Jackie) of Jackson Township, James (Delia) of East Canton, John (Dr. Erin) of Scottsdale, Ariz. and daughter, Karen Stocker (Michael) of Jackson Township. He has five grandchildren, Janet Robincheck (Joe) of Sterling Heights, Mich., Jeff Schiffer of Akron, Joan Pelser (Jacques) of Akron, Jessica Meyer (Michael) of Greenwood, Ind., and Mandy Stocker of Jackson Township; and two great-grandchildren, Izak Pelser and Jordan Robincheck.
At his request he has been cremated and memorial services will be held at McDonaldsville United Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. In keeping with Joe's friendly nature, share a smile and a hug with someone today.
