Timothy Haldeman Obituary

Timothy A.
Haldeman
Timothy A. Haldeman, age 61, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday evening following a long and difficult struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on October 3, 1946, to Wilbur and Myrtle I. (Mohler) Haldeman. Tim was a 1964 graduate of Glenwood High School and Malone College where he earned his BA degree in 1968. Tim was employed by Bridgestone, Firestone of Akron, where he worked over 30 years in the Research and Development Department. He was a member of Canton Baptist Temple and the Encouragers Class. Tim was involved in the television ministry, served as a deacon and worked on the parking lot of the church as long as he was physically able. Tim enjoyed working with computers, bowling, traveling, and was also involved in several Toastmaster Clubs. He is preceded in death by his father, Wilbur, and a sister, Karen Small. Survivors include his loving wife, Cheryl (Singleton) Haldeman of the home, to whom he was married for 36 years; his mother, Myrtle; and a brother, Gary, all of Canton. Also surviving are brother-
in-law, Bill Small of Canton; nephews, Andrew and Jonathan Small; and a niece, Dr. Bethany Small, all of Avon, OH; great-nephew and great- niece. Tim's favorite Scripture verse was I Cor. 15:1-4, where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is clearly presented, and his desire was that everyone have the same assurance of Heaven by trusting in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only way to Heaven. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Pastor Mike Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Canton Baptist Temple. Cheryl & family,
We send our deepest sympathies out to you & your family for the loss of Tim. Imagine the reunion he's had - in joining his sister & his father. As I was reading the entries in the guest book, I was thinking about how long I had known you, & it's actually been quite some time. The most vivid picture that popped into my head was of your wedding reception. I remember thinking it was a very exciting time, & as a child, it probably stuck in my head because I caught your bouquet that day, Cheryl. Keep ahold of all of those wonderful memories of the two of you. We'll be keeping you in our prayers.

Tim Haldeman was the founder of the Bridgestone/Firestone Toasmaster Club 3315, which meets every Tuesday at Firestone Tire & Rubber Comapny.

He founded our club in March 1975. He held the record as the only person to receive a DTM (Distinguished Toasmaster Award) from our club for 32 years, holding this record until August 2007. He was both an Area and a Division Governor for District 10 Toasmasters. He gave many great speeches about the Bible, dinosaurs, archeology, health care research, his vacations, trip to Hawaii and "the Alamo". He was a devout Christian. He would always have a verse of scripture to share with me, any time I called him. He was a very generous person and loved the Lord dearly. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Cheryl, I am so very sorry to learn about the passing of your husband. You always kept a smile on your face as you came into the office to get his glasses repaired or just simply adjusted. No matter how tough things may have been from time to time, I would have never known. What a wonderful wife to Timothy you were. You are an example for us all.
