William W Eckstein 1924-2015
age 90, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at Shady Lawn Health Care Community. He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Massillon the son of the late Leo and Agnes (Schmidt) Eckstein. Bill was a World War II veteran serving with the Army in the Aleutian Islands. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was a clerk for many years. Bill was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. He was an avid woodworker, who loved tinkering with electronics and motors. He was often known to show up at a relative or friend's house to help with repairs. Bill loved spending time with his family and enjoyed attending family gatherings.

Bill is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Auck of Marshallville; grandson, Nathan Auck and wife Sara of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister-in-law, Marguerite Eckstein; and many more beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rita (Ritzka) Eckstein; brothers, Robert, Donald, and Ernest Eckstein; sister, Margaret Girard.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 11 at Heitger Funeral Home - Massillon Chapel, 639 First St NE, from 6p.m-8p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 10a.m. with Rev. Fr. Edward Gretchko celebrant of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The services will be conducted at St. Barbara Catholic Church, 2813 Lincoln Way W, Massillon.
