William Mattern Obituary
age 63, of Louisville, Ohio passed away Thursday Sept. 8, 2016. He was born in Canton, Ohio on Oct. 6, 1952 to the late Robert and Doris (Evans) Mattern. William was retired from American Steel Foundry in Alliance and Sams Club. He was an Army veteran and a member of Tuscarawas Lodge #59 F & AM of Dover.
William was preceded in death by his wife Frances in 2011 and a brother, Robert Mattern. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Mattern and a son, Christopher Mattern; a grandson Jerrod Kennedy; a sister, Beverly (Jim) Lizer.
William's wishes were to be cremated. There will be no services or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stark County Humane Society, 5100 Peach St.N.E., Louisville, Ohio 44641. Stier – Israel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.On line condolences may be left at

Bill... I will think of you for the rest of my life. I never stopped thinking about you and Sis (I called her,) all these years as I told you on the phone. We had talked other times when all our kids were younger. You were my brother-in-law and I loved you and my sister-in-law from the day I met you both when I married your brother Robert Mattern (we all called him Bobby,) your dad called him Bob. I know you had a few choice names you called each other your selves growing up and as adults being brothers (Smiling,) he wanted us to move to Canton from California and be near his family. I really can't believe your not here on your computer thumbing up so much of what your niece Stacy Mattern posted, myself or just reading some of your hilirious post. The lady half asleep and the tea bag was hilirious!! Stacy loves you so much and is so heartbroken. You being here was like half of her dad was still here. I totally get that. As I was telling you your brother had also accepted Jesus as his Savior. Just to know you 3 are there together and all the laughter makes me all the more home sick and I know Stacy feels the same. Till I see you again Bill Mattern shake up heaven with your humor! I love you.

There are no words for this man except he was truly one of a kind. I was fortunate to get to know Bill at work and surprised when I found out he was part of my daughter in law's family.
He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. God be with your family and you Bill.
