Barbara Ann Smith, 57, died November 27 after a decade long battle with multiple myeloma. She was born in Annapolis on January 19, 1954 and was a lifelong resident of South County, graduating Southern Senior High School in 1972. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed singing in the choir, reading, cooking, exercising and traveling. She owned her own land title business in Upper Marlboro. She was a member of St. James Parish in Lothian. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Calvin Beneze Sr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Edward Smith of 37 years; two sons, Bradley Kyle and Robert Bowie Smith; mother, Mabel Anna Beneze; and brother, Robert Calvin Beneze Jr. (Linda) of Windham, New Hampshire, Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, November 29 at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road, in Galesville. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 30 at St. James' Parish, 5757 Solomons Island Road, in Lothian. Interment private.
