Ginger Aben Solomon

1946 - 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Ginger R. Aben Solomon, 74, announces her passing on May 11, 2021, while at her home in Edgewater, Maryland. She battled cancer for many years. Born July 22, 1946, to Ellen (Walston) and Ernie Simon in Baltimore, she graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland in 1964. Ginger has ties to Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, on her mother's side with grandparents, Mamie (Peterson) and Amos Walston. Ginger will forever be remembered as a beautiful person who was kind, selfless, loving, generous and an incredible mother and grandmother who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She worked as a realtor, office administrator and church receptionist. Friends and family would often call upon "Ging" for her skills as a cruciverbalist also. Ginger is preceded in death by her parents Ellen & Ernie Simon, stepfather LP Brooks, and her sister Laura Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Solomon, whom with she shared many tennis games, movies, great meals, and boating trips on the Chesapeake Bay. Ginger is also survived by her brothers John Brooks and Scott Simon and her sister, Donna Bryant. She was an athletic "southpaw," and had a passion for cooking, gardening and puzzles of all kinds. She also enjoyed listening to 70s & 80s classic rock, watching tv quiz shows, family board games and anything trivia related. She will lovingly be remembered by her daughter Sherry Anne, her son Joseph Gerald, her daughter-in-law Erin and her 5 grandkids, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Ella and Jameson. "Gammy" got the greatest joy out of attending every event (humanly possible) either her kids or grandkids participated in and sharing their experiences. An outdoor memorial service will be held at All Hallows Chapel at 864 W Central Ave in Davidsonville, MD on May 22, 2021 at 1pm. In celebration of Ginger, attendees are asked to dress colorfully in their "Easter best" and hats are encouraged. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to All Hallows Parish in Edgewater, MD, where Ginger, for years, faithfully attended 8AM Sunday Mass. https://allhallowsparish.org/
