Olive Smith

1932 - 2022

Olive F. Smith (nee Hedrick), 90, outstanding mother and wife, died November 20 at Spring Arbor of Crofton. Mrs. Smith was born on September 9, 1932 in Dry Fork, West Virginia. Since her teenage years, Mrs. Smith lived on a farm in Odenton she dearly loved. Later in life she moved to Gambrills. Mrs. Smith loved being surrounded by family and friends, traveling, visiting various National Parks. She was member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a current member of Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton. She patted many oysters, made potato salad and numerous pies for the Annual Church Supper. She attended bible study and was very active in the life of Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years Joseph K. Smith, whom she married on November 19, 1949; son, Joseph Randall Smith; two sisters, Velma (Sis) and Bonnie and three brothers, Elmer, Robert (Earl) and James (Jim). She is survived by her son, Robert S. Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on November 29 at Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills and interment in the Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church cemetery, 1070 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD.
