Ronald E. Doherty

1943 - 2020

Ronald E. (Ron) Doherty 77, of Edgewater, MD passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. He was the son of the late Clarence Doherty and Jean M. Doherty (Koenig). He was preceded in death by his loving niece, Darlene L. White. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley M. Winegar (Matthes), nephew Donald Winegar (Betty) and niece Deborah Simpson (Scott) as well as 19 loving great nieces and nephews Ron was a 1961 graduate of Catonsville High School and a 1971 graduate of University of Maryland College Park with a BS in Business/Accounting. He also served in the US Army from 1964 through 1968 stationed in Korea and Germany. Ron enjoyed a 30-year career as Senior Accountant CPA at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, DC. He was well respected among his peers for his vast knowledge and detail-oriented work ethic and formed numerous long-lasting friendships over his long and successful career there. Ron was an avid Orioles fan, reveled in the simple pleasures of life on the waterfront including fishing, crabbing, boating and jet skiing where he cherished hosting summer holiday family gatherings. Ron was a kind and generous man loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 11 to 12 noon at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon. Entombment will follow at Loudon Park Cemetery.
